A wine containing only grapes is a natural wine. To speed up fermentation or enhance the taste, nothing unusual, not even yeast, has been added to assist sugar fermentation. A natural wine vintner depends on the natural yeast present on the grapes’ skins to ferment the juice and convert the grapes into wine. There is nothing put into it; there’s nothing taken out.

Natural wine shall be kept as untouched as possible. With grapes that have been grown without the use of any pesticides, natural wine begins life. The grapes are as clean as they can be. To ensure the grapes are uncontaminated, a vineyard that produces natural wine will usually adhere to organic or biodynamic farming methods. In appearance, natural wines tend to be cloudy because they are not filtered or fined, unlike traditional wines. And it’s a trend that only gets better.
